Waiting for Spring

March 2018

Spring is scheduled to arrive this year at on Tuesday, March 20, at 11:15 AM. Perhaps, judging by all the usual signs, it’s already spring where you live, however we are starting to feel as if  winter will never be over. The best we can hope for in March is a few warmer days so we can tap the maple trees. The USA National Phenology Network has produced new scientific maps which show how early spring is arriving across the United States. In case you were wondering, it’s unusually early because, yes, climate change is real.

But aside from the implications of that, we still wait and hope for spring. We long for buds on the trees, trillium in the woods, turtles laying their eggs and, eventually, the ice on the lake melting. So we hope and we anticipate and we make Happy Yolk Soap for Easter, which is April 1 this year. We enjoy making Happy Yolk soap, using freshly laid eggs (thanks Flo). We don’t go around smelling like an omelet – there’s no eggy smell. It’s creamy and good for your skin. But unless there’s a special request, we only make it once a year. Give it a try and celebrate spring with us.
