We had so much fun at the Dancing Dragonfly Winery in August. What a great place to hold a market! One of the things we enjoy most is talking with our customers and answering their questions. A lot of people asked about our shampoo bars. For all of you who have been wondering, here you go:
What is a shampoo bar?
This is probably the most common question we get. About 95% of shampoos are liquid, but these are just shampoo in bar form. They’re all natural, they do everything liquid shampoos can do, but require less packaging.
How do shampoo bars work?
Sweetie Pie Soap’s shampoo bars are concentrated bars of all natural ingredients. When the bars get wet, you can lather them up and use them just like liquid shampoo.
How do I use a shampoo bar?
This was probably the second most common question. Basically there are two ways to do it, so just experiment and see what works best for you.
- Lather the shampoo bar in your hands and massage the lather into your scalp and hair. Rinse.
- Stroke the shampoo bar down and around your hair a few times to lather up. Gently massage it into your scalp and hair, just like you do with liquid shampoo. Rinse.
Easy-peasy. Try your favorite scent. Your hair will smell great.
Why do I need one?
Marriott International, the world’s largest hotel chain, just announced that it will eliminate small plastic bottles of shampoo, conditioner and bath gel from its hotel rooms by December 2020. Some of their hotels may replace them with larger, wall-mounted plastic bottles. Plus, there are plenty of travel lodgings that do not provide any shampoo at all. Shampoo bars are better for the environment and perfect for travel. TSA won’t seize your shampoo and your shampoo won’t leak all over your favorite sweater.
We started making shampoo bars for ourselves. Most liquid shampoos contain detergents, such as Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, which strips the hair of its natural oils. So we made solid shampoo bars using all natural ingredients such as coconut oil to gently clean your hair and scalp. We liked them so much, we ditched our plastic bottles of old-school liquid soap.
In between uses, just let them drain dry. We use one of our custom soap dish holders made from reclaimed wood – another plus for the environment. That way they last a long time.
